Trans rights

While learning a lot about how much people have fought about their rights, it made me so sad and ferrous about what happened on Survivor the TV show. In case you don't know there was a trans gender contestant that no one knew was transgender. He had played on the previous season and the current season so those who were competing on this season didn't know that he had not told anyone he was trans. But in a last ditch effort to try not to get voted out one of the contestants outed him to try to make him seem like a liar. This was one of the worst things you could do because people should have the right to tell others when they are ready because other wise it can cause a lot of harm. After the episode aired I learned that the guy who exposed him was fired from his job after continuously being for trans rights and fighting for them. He was also gay so he knew what it was like to be part of the LGBT community. He even tried to commit suicide which I think was a little extreme but I am truly sorry for all the hate and every thing that has happened to both of them as it was a stupid mistake but it still caused a lot of harm. I started to become mad at survivor for showing this outing however I learned that they allowed him to choose if he wanted the episode to air and it did so I am proud of survivor for seeing how this event could hut or help others and I'm proud of Zeke (the trans guy) for allowing this episode to air and show how trans people are just like everyone else and educate the audience of survivor.

  1. I had heard about this on facebook when it happened. I think you bring up a very important point that trans people should be able to tell people when they want to. I also think it is fascinating that the person who outed him was gay. It seems like someone who is gay should understand how difficult coming out can be.
