School and Financial Aid

Remembering back to Erika's documentary on financial aid, it reminded me of when I tried applying for the school's financial aid for my prom ticket, senior picnic, and the senior night. When I filled out the application on the school website for it, I had emailed Ms. Woolfolk, and applied for the free lunch program. However, once I had filled out all the necessary things in order to get my financial aid, I still didn't get it. It really made me upset because I'm not working, the school has documentation on both my parents being unemployed, so what was the problem? I just think that the school says they have financial aid, but then expect no one to apply for it. And in turn, they don't have to give it. It just seems really unfair that they would promote something like financial aid, and then not give it to someone who needs it.
