College Education in Other Countries versus the United States

I found the topic of education very interesting.  Since we are graduating this year, I looked up the topic of college.  Colleges in the United States can range from little money (if you get a scholarship for sports, grades, talents, etc.) to around $70,000, not including books, room, and more.  But some countries find it beneficial to provide free or low costing college.  Here are a few countries with free/low costing college: Norway, Finland, and Sweden.  There are a few requirements to receive free tuition.  In Sweden, you must be pursuing a research-based doctoral degree to get free tuition.  At the beginning of 2017, citizens and international students have to pay a small fee, based on what the student is studying, to attend Finland's college but students pursuing doctoral degrees pay no tuition.  In Norway, college is free but the cost of living is high.

  1. I think the information you found on this topic after researching more is super interesting. Money is a huge factor of why a lot of people in the U.S. don't/can't pursue a higher education, and I think that if we adopted policies like Finland, Norway, or Sweden we'd be able to have a lot more people going to college.

  2. I agree many people have trouble going to college because it is so expensive here. I think this was why a lot of college students like Bernie sanders is because he wanted to help reduce the burden of college tuition by having it funded by the government like these other countries however I don't think this is going to happen any time soon
