A New Perspective

I was a little late to the game and only yesterday did I finish 13 Reasons Why. After hearing so much about the show, I came away with a different perspective to the show than ones that I have heard. The show was truly able to open my eyes in a completely different way. We have had a lot of speakers come to our school and have even had a wellness week because of some of the situations that have been going on. I thought that it was great thing to do, but not enough to change what had just come out in the Title IX article. This was also shown in 13 Reasons Why. The students showed an anger towards the school and the administration because they had only tried to help Hannah after she had decided to commit suicide. Though I did not think that the show provided an education as well as they should have on rape, I do think that the show did a good job of making people aware that this is an issue. I have been in an environment that is surrounded by anxiety, depression, and suicide, but to see it all on video allowed me to see the whole situation from a different perspective. Overall, I am very glad that I watched this show because it has allowed me to always think about the other side of situations.
