Pamela Smart and the killing of her husband

I do not understand why Pam would make a young student fall in love with her, was it because she loved him too? or because she really wanted to just get rid of her husband?
Her husband's parents did notice she got over his death pretty quickly, causing them to feel like she did have something to do with it.
I do think it was justified for her to go to jail because of the quote where she tells her friend she's afraid of her coming in one day and being wired up.
I do think she shouldn't have been sentenced life, because she herself did not physically kill her husband, just because she told someone to, doesn't mean she herself should do life in jail.
Even though it was wrong for her to have sex with not only a minor but one of her students.
