Last semester we talked a lot about how race is a social construct. I've been catching up on my inbox, and Al Jazeera sent me this article. Not only is it an interesting fact, it shows how absurd our racial classifications can be in reality. Apparently, the US Census Bureau classifies all native Arabic speakers as white, which has been interesting for Sudanese Americans, given that they're often native Arabic speakers, yet most people would say, "Yeah, they're black."
Overall, an interesting callback to some of our earlier work.
